Was Wayne’s mum’s birthday on thursday, the kids planned for dinner at Oosh. I’m sorry, but this is the 4rd time i’ve been there, and service really needs alot of work. Especially with reservations, they need to be more courteous on the phone and not speak to you like you’re a three year old. Too long to explain what happened, i’ll save that for a bitchin day.
Wayne wanted to buy dinner, so i decided to bake the birthday cake. Instead of the usual chocolate or sponge cakes, i went for the under-rated carrot cake. There was a slight disaster in the kitchen though.
Our oven at home is really REALLY ancient, and lately, its been leaking alot of heat, and temperatures aren’t exactly accurate. So most of the time, it’s based on my aggar-ration on which gas mark it should be. Usually i’m pretty ok with the guessing, it’s usually 2 gas marks up, but not today. The cake wasn’t baking for 50mins, so i had to turn it up another 1 gas mark, and scotch tape the door tighter.
Luckily it baked, and everyone loved it.
on a side note, i’ve been working on the kitchen blog, yes, finally. Not ready yet, but i’ll keep you posted.

hehe at least the oven didnt fail you XD i tried baking twice with the conventional oven (top cover type) and my cake keeps getting burnt on the top

and about the oven, mines like that as well, but there’s a fan that distributes the heat, but i do run into that problem sometimes, coz the grill is on the top. try putting it on the lower racks.
