Am hoping to chase away the blues today with this song… enjoy.
Went for my first Singapore Oktoberfest 2 weeks back at the Swiss Club. It was so hard to get a ticket, but luckily a few spots opened up a few days before! Lesson learnt, book early next time.

Oktoberfest was a riot! I absolutely loved it! And a lot of it had to do with the company. It was great to see old friends and meet new ones. I’m so glad I brought my DSLR along. Although it was a real pain to carry around, the pictures were well worth it.

Nat, Kim and I had bootcamp earlier in the day, so three of us rocked up pretty late at around 8:30pm. But that’s ok, the party went on till late.

Here’s the low-down. It’s basically a heuuugee tent lined with benches and tables with food stations on either ends of the tent. When you walk in, first things first, go get your beer coupon. It’s much easier just buying a booklet of coupons, because they finish pretty fast
Food-wise I stuck to sausages and pork knuckle with loads of honey mustard (my fav), washed down nicely with a mug (or two…or three) of Erdinger beer. There goes the calories burnt at bootcamp!

I loved how so many people were dressed up for the occasion, guys in their tight shorts+suspenders and girls as frolines! Towards the end of the night, everyone in the tent was dancing on the table tops! It’s amazing how much stress and weight those tables can take, I’m sure they took that into consideration when sourcing for tables ![]()

Till next year… Prost!
Jono and Naree were in town last month for their yearly fix. Wish I could have spent a bit more time with that bugger.
Here’s John having his favourite beef kway teow/horfun from Geylang. It’s a yearly pilgramage!

Missing you already! Will plan a trip down under soon mate!
I blogged about the song a couple of weeks ago, and now the music video is out. I like it!!! I love the photos, and the treatment to the video, especially the vintage effects. And that cruiser bike! I want! Saw a shop down the road from the office selling those bikes at S$400-$800! That’s not too bad?!
I hope to make a video one day like this. Enjoy!
It’s Jules’ 1st birthday soon!
How time flies. Feels like it was just yesterday he popped out to say hello!
Since then he has learned to rollover, crawl, say mummmumm, papaa, clap his hands, open mineral water bottles.

I had the pleasure of being invited to a bloggers event organized by Shell Co. last week. They were launching a new breakthrough petrol called “Shell FuelSave†which helps drivers save up to one litre with every full tank. I was afraid it was going to be boring, but this was actually something I wanted to learn more about.
How to get the most out of every drop of petrol.

Ok, before you click that red cross on the top right of the browser window, hear me out.
What is one litre of fuel going to get me right? Well, you’d be surprised. For this event, we were all involved in a little challenge to see who could drive the furthest with 1litre of Shell FuelSave.
Each participant was allocated a car and co-driver. In every car, Shell installed a computer on the dashboard to monitor fuel usage and distance.
The objective was to see how far 1 litre of fuel can take you.

When we got to your cars, we had to unload unnecessary weight such as golf bags, baby seats etc. Now comes the driving. With 1 litre of fuel, I was able to drive all the way from Suntec to Siglap and half-way back to Suntec. That’s approximately 17km thereabouts?

At the end of the drive, all of us returned to the room to compare distances and share our learnings. I came in third, Joe Augustin and DK tied at first place, thus being “crowned” the most fuel efficient drivers of the night.

Shell aims to help customers save 10% or more fuel while driving, making sure we get the most out of every drop. But it’s not just about using FuelSave, you need to try to change your driving habits too. Did you know that 90% of ya’all said you’d welcome more information on how to be more fuel-efficient?
Well… here’s a few tips Shell FuelSave Ambassador Eunice Olsen shared with us:
Preparation: 4 Things to look out for
1. Make sure car is serviced regularly
2. Fuel cap closed properly
3. Check tyre pressure – if you’re under inflated by 1psi, it can reduce your fuel efficient by up to 3%
4. Remove excess weight (every 45kg of excess weight reduces fuel efficiency up to 2%)While you’re driving: 1 Drive, 2 Uses, 2 Keeps, 5 Avoids
1. DRIVE smoothly
2. USE higher gears
3. USE air-conditioning sparingly
4. USE cruise control (if applicable)
5. KEEP windows closed
6. KEEP constant speed
7. AVOID over revving
8. AVOID high speeds
9. AVOID excess idling
10. AVOID rush hour
11. AVOID braking too hard

The new Shell FuelSave is now available at ALL Shell stations island-wide! And get this, they replaced their previous Formula 95 and 98 at no additional cost.
I wonder how they managed to empty all the fuel storages and filled it with this new fuel at 12 midnight.

…a company would name their product collon (colon), especially when it looks like a cross section of a small intestine too?

One of my favourite-est restaurants in Singapore is Oso Ristorante.
First time eating there was during an ICON lunch about 2 years ago when they were still located along the shophouses along Tanjong Pagar road. Their little Italian set up literally a hidden treasure, tucked away between Play disco and some cultural arts centre. They have now moved to Bukit Pasoh to a much larger venue opposite the Majestic Hotel.
Went there recently for the third time for a farewell dinner, and this time I remembered to take my camera along.
Dinner started off with warm breads with Balsamic vinaigrette and extra virgin olive oil. We shared a starter, each had a main and shared a dessert. Here is our fantastic dinner menu for the night.
Affettati “Cold Cuts”
Thinly sliced 200 days grain feed beef tenderloin “carpaccio” with black truffle pureeCarne “meat”
8 hours oven baked lamb rack “agnello” with black onions and green beans
Slowly braised veal shank “Ossocubo” with lemon gremolata and potato pureeDolci Caldi “Hot Dessert”
70% hot dark chocolate tart “crostata” with milk and ice cream
Carpaccio was not bad, although I would have expected more aroma from the black truffle.
I absolutely love their Ossobuco. The veal shank was soft, tender and fell off the bone easily. The Lamb rack was alright, but not as flavourful as my dish, first choice is still the Ossobuco.
Dark chocolate tart was the highlight of the evening! I absolutely love (and I say love with passion and tears in my eyes) molten dark chocolate puddings and tarts; without a doubt one of my favourite desserts. The warm tart was baked to perfection; hard golden brown crust encasing a semi-firm hot chocolate tart with a wobbly centre. The minute you break the tart, warm chocolate lava just flows out slowwllyyyyy…hmmmmmm.
I’ve always had a pleasant dining experience at Oso, so I’d definitely go back again. The semi-fine dining concept is great for dates, girly catch-ups or business dinners.

So I did something impulsive 3 weeks ago, I chopped off my long locks. It was the longest I’ve ever kept it, somewhere halfway down my back? Now… it’s all gone.

Not very happy with the cut, so will just have to wait for it to grow out again. Will take another gazillion years to reach that length again.
p.s. I was quite disappointed that the salon didn’t support initiatives such as Locks of Love! This was one of my bucket list items, and now I’ve got to wait years again before I can fulfil that wish.
