Bedrock Bar & Grill

November 18th, 2009 3 comments

A few months back, a fellow foodie friend of mine and I decided to try out the fairly new restaurant called the Bedrock Bar & Grill.

If you haven’t seen this restaurant before, it’s probably because it’s obscurely located at the Pan Pacific Service Apartments on Grange Road (Just behind the Youth Park).

I went online to read up a bit more about this place, and the more I clicked, the more excited I got. The ratios looked promising, with almost every review giving it the thumbs up. Owner Keith Loh also owns Aerin’s at Raffles City, Spruce at Tanglin Road and started Whitebait & Kale at Camden.

The restaurant is beautifully designed by New York based interior firm AvroKo. Dimly but warmly lit made it intimate and cosy.

Before tucking in to dinner, we had cocktails at the bar with some Oysters (3-kinds). I’m not an Oyster fan at all, but I must admit it was amazing. It wasn’t fishy/Oystery, but fat and juicy!

After we were seated, we were first served warmed flat bread with a whole clove of oven roasted garlic. On a first date? Who cares… you can’t NOT try it at least.

The waiters possess good knowledge of their dishes, which made ordering much easier. I’m trying to recall what we had, but the dishes that definitely stood out was the truffle mac & cheese and the rib eye cooked which was cooked to perfection. The truffle mac & cheese was sensational, I don’t think I’ll ever look at it the same way again.

So if you’re looking for a restaurant with great steaks, I’d highly highly recommend Bedrock. I liked it so much I recently celebrated my birthday there with a dinner for 18pax. That shall be another blog post altogether! :)

Can’t believe how time flies, baby Jules turned 1 last month! We had a small birthday party with family and friends at my sister’s place.

Here’s two short clips from last month. First part of the video was during his birthday party with him rocking to Black Eyed Peas. Second part was just a couple of weeks after that when he first started walking/running!!!

So proud!

Movember or Novembeard

November 9th, 2009 2 comments

It’s Movember! And although this does not apply to me, guys if you want to participate, here’s the Movember website to find out more. I think it’s a cute idea!

And although you may look hideous or wolverine-like for awhile, we girls will forgive you if its for charity :)

Movember (a portmanteau of the words ‘Moustache’ and ‘November’), also known as Novembeard, No-Shave November, or Noshember, is an annual month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November. The event has been claimed to have been invented in 1999 by group of Australian men from Adelaide.

Since 2004, the Movember Foundation charity has run Movember events to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer and depression in Australia and New Zealand. In 2007, events were launched in Ireland, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Trapeze

November 6th, 2009 5 comments

I’m actually slightly acrophobic, but not extreme to the point I’d get a panic attack. But I do get nervous especially when I’m looking down from apartment blocks or even when I’m standing on the Takashimaya escalator.

But… there is one exception. I can overcome it if I’m fuelled by adrenaline, or if it’s something fun or sporty.

I’ve done para sailing, abseiling down waterfalls, jumping off a boulder in a quarry and now… the trapeze at ClubMed Bintan. Wheeeeee……………
