Being there and Being present

July 1st, 2010

Is it a waste of time and money to just sit there in a cafe when you can be sitting home. Drinking coffee which you could have made in your kitchen. Dress up, when you can be in your slacks on the couch.

yeah..maybe…it is a waste of time and money.

It’s something about physically being there which makes it a tangible effort on your part to “keep in touch”.

But being there and being present are two different things. And I’m guilty of not “being there” many times. So I’ve made it a point nowadays to be totally engaged with conversations and really listen to what people have to say.

I am grateful for friends who listen. And I mean really listen.

Hey, i really agree with that. I know spending $5-$15 on a cup of coffee i finish in 5mins is one of the dumbest thing to do but it’s really the company that matters. Sometimes we’ll find the cafe with really good ambience and makes you feel like ya not in Singapore just sitting in there, for a brief moment of “getaway” :) ))
