One of my favourite salad is the Horenso Salad at Gyu Kaku, raw spinach leaves with sesame dressing. Eager to make the dressing at home, we went online to search for the ingredients and found out its pretty simple to make!

It’s really trial and error to suit your taste and desired consistency. But it’s really made out of just 3 ingredients.
Ingredients
Optional
Preparation
Horenso Salad
Toss baby spinach and some sliced button mushrooms with the sesame dressing
Fry up small amount of bacon bits and thin garlic chips and sprinkle on top

Music video out for Graffiti 6′s “Stare into the Sun”, lead vocals one of my favourites – Jamie Scott from Jamie Scott & The Town who I got a pleasure of meeting at SingFest 2 years back.
Stare into the Sun
Stare into the sun, stare into the sun
I’m gonna stare into the sun, stare into the sun
The ain’t a cloud in the sky, no nothing
I see the birds they fly on something
This is the summer, it’s the summer, full of colour baby
The sun is shining down for lovers
But not for me, it shines for others
You gave me love, babe
Gave me love, babe, now it’s over
I’m feeling blue ’cause love is gone
Guess I lose, but life goes on
I’ve got a few tears to dry
Before these blue shade days are gone
And I can stare into the sun
I’m gonna swim in seas of green, I tell you
I’m gonna run like I’m seventeen, forever
I see a rainbow, purple and gold, but it’s covered
Oh yeah, ’cause there’s a cloud,
she follows me round, wherever
Her last words keep raining down, on shelter
You took your love babe, took your love babe
Now the colors are melt together
I’m feeling blue, ’cause love is gone
I guess I lose, but life goes on
I’ve got a few tears to dry,
before these blue shade days are gone
And I can stare into the sun
Stare into the sun, stare into the sun
I’m gonna stare into the sun, stare into the sun
You gave me love, babe, gave me love, babe
You gave me love and took it away
You gave me love, babe, gave me love, babe
You gave me love and took it away
You gave me love, babe, gave me love, babe
You gave me love and took it away
You gave me love, babe, gave me love, babe
Oh man, I said oh lord
I’m feeling blue, ’cause love is gone
I guess I lose, but life goes on
I’ve got a few tears to dry,
before these blue shade days are gone
And I can stare into the sun
before these blue shade days are gone
And I can stare into the sun
I’ve got a fever baby!
Your love
I’ve got a fever baby!
It’s your love
I said I’m blue, baby
I said I’m blue, baby
I said I’m blue babe, blue babe
I said I’m blue, baby
I’m crying out late now
The sun is gone
I’m crying out late now
The sun is gone
I need you love
I need you love
Do you see me, baby, on the street?
And I’m her king, to her heat
And I love, babe
Can’t wait till we’re done with our move so I can unpack the bike and ride again. Give me mud, dirt, blood and sweat. I need my fix.

Lookie what I found at ParknShop at Wanchai Hong Kong awhile back, Mrs Mac’s Pies!! I’m sure they are available in Singapore as well, just haven’t seen them yet.

Mrs Mac’s is based in Perth and available at almost all gas stations and grocery stores. Brings back a lot of memories this one. My mum likes the famous beef pies and I used to buy back five to ten frozen pies home for her. Anyone in Singapore seen them at the frozen goods section?
This is more of a photo post, and I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
House of Trousers (H.o.T) says goodbye to Gentle Reflections with a not so gentle party. The boys were moving out of their crib on Gentle Road and it was a good enough reason to have a costume party!

Theme was Wild Wild West, and yet again I was tasked to do the e-invite, which I must say came out pretty nice and was well received by everyone
I do enjoy designing invites. First it was Kimmy’s Birthday, now the Wild West one. I did another 2 more after this which I will post later on.

I went with the cowgirl look coz it was easier to pull off.

- Bandit scarf
- Toy gun & holster
- Rope
- Cowgirl belt buckle
- My mum’s flannel-ish shirt (Which she made when she was in her 20s by the way!)
- Shorts
- black boots

Everyone looked fantastic! Effort! It doesn’t work if your guests aren’t game enough.

(Pictured above) Presenting the H.o.T boys, Sam, Chris, Adam & Joel.
But the real H.o.T.ties are my girls of course.

Till the next costume party…
There’s no such thing as a quiet night out when Jon is in town. Davo tagged along this time, and contrary to what you might think, no they are not a couple! Jon is as straight as a pencil lead.
More photos to follow, but here are the best few from the night.
Was over at VivoCity one weekend with the parentals for some lunch and came across this big art installation near the fountain outside.
It was 3m tall and it read “SFMRIOLWEN”, half resin half ice. Then I realized what they had done. They had mixed the words “Smile” and “Frown”. And with time, the “Frown” would melt whilst “Smile” remains solid.
Your worries will come and go.
But a Positive attitude
Can weather anything.
It was the first in the series of original art installations put up by the Health Promotion Board (HPB) in lead up to World Mental Health Day in October.
Here’s a video I found online about the art installation
I think it’s quite nice that they are advocating positive thinking. I for one certainly believe that life could be a lot more pleasant and happier if I wasn’t so pessimistic and cynical. It was a nice little reminder to Be Positive.
And at that very moment, I was grateful and thankful for all my life blessings you know what, I did smile.
After a little research online, here are the next 2 art installations. And Oooo the next one is quite near home, wonder what it’s going to be like?

This may not interest a lot of you, but this post is more for family members and close friends more than anybody.
When I was younger, my sister would never tell me what she bought the parentals for Christmas, because somehow I’d always accidently let it out! But I’ve definitely earned the trust over the years, and have kept secrets a secret.
So this is a post I’ve been dying to write for a few weeks now, but I promised I wouldn’t say anything, until now.
Even during my trip to India, I was so happy I wanted to tell Roh, but I just bit my lip and smiled.
So what’s this all about?

Spent one weekend in June with Jules at the pool.

Played in the baby pool with him until he mastered the skill of filling a watering can and emptying it through the nozzle. It’s the simple pleasures in life, watching this little fella learn, absorb and grow.

Found it fascinating that baby board shorts come with a little “catchment layer” in case of “accidents”!! O_o

My favourite picture of the day top left. That little curl in his lip is distinctively my sister’s genes. Doesn’t Jie Jie look beautiful in these photos?

Not very PC, but check out the photo bottom left. He looks like a mini KKK from the back! Or maybe an Ewok from Star Wars?
Or just a baby Jules…

What I came home to one day.
The Shell Eco-marathon challenges high school and college student teams from around the world to design, build and test energy efficient vehicles. With annual events in the Americas, Europe and Asia, the winner is the team that goes the furthest distance using the least amount of energy. This year, the Shell Eco-marathon Asia was held at Sepang, Malaysia.
One of the supporting events was the Shell FuelSave 1L Challenge. A contest which requires you to try to drive the furthest with 1L of fuel.
Our very own Eunice Olsen represented Singapore a couple of years back for the global event in Germany and came in 2nd. This time, Shell organised the challenge for ordinary drivers like you and me.
I was fortunate enough to be selected to represent Singapore together with DK to test our FuelSave knowledge. Both DK and I were part of the FuelSave Challege in Singapore last year. You can read about that HERE.
We got to meet John and Helen Taylor who hold more than 85 World Records, mostly in national fuel economy driving records.
Results at the end of the day? We didn’t win, but that’s ok. We walked away with an experience and knowledge that we can share with family and friends.
Here’s a short video of some footage from the 2 day workshop and driving challenge.
Lyrics:
They say an end can be a start
Feels like I’ve been buried yet I’m still alive
It’s like a bad day that never ends
I feel the chaos around me
A thing I don’t try to deny
I’d better learn to accept that
There are things in my life that I can’t control
They say love ain’t nothing but a sore
I don’t even know what love is
Too many tears have had to fall
Don’t you know I’m so tired of it all
I have known terror dizzy spells
Finding out the secrets words won’t tell
Whatever it is it can’t be named
There’s a part of my world that’s fading away
You know I don’t want to be clever
To be brilliant or superior
True like ice, true like fire
Now I know that a breeze can blow me away
Now I know there’s much more dignity
In defeat than in the brightest victory
I’m losing my balance on the tight rope
Tell me please, tell me please, tell me please, tell me please…
If I ever feel better
Remind me to spend some good time with you
You can give me your number
When it’s all over I’ll let you know
Hang on to the good days
I can lean on my friends
They help me going through hard times
But I’m feeding the enemy
I’m in league with the foe
Blame me for what’s happening
I can’t try, I can’t try, I can’t try, I can’t try…
No one knows the hard times I went through
If happiness came I missed the call
The stormy days ain’t over
I’ve tried and lost know I think that I pay the cost
I’ve watched all my castles fall
They were made of dust, after all
Someday all this mess will make me laugh
I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait…
If I ever feel better
Remind me to spend some good time with you
You can give me your number
When it’s all over I’ll let you know
If I ever feel better
Remind me to spend some good time with you
You can give me your number
When it’s all over I’ll let you know
It’s like somebody took my place
I ain’t even playing my own game
The rules have changed well I didn’t know
There are things in my life I can’t control
I feel the chaos around me
A thing I don’t try to deny
I’d better learn to accept that
There’s a part of my life that will go away
Dark is the night, cold is the ground
In the circular solitude of my heart
As one who strives a hill to climb
I am sure I’ll come through I don’t know how
They say an end can be a start
Feels like I’ve been buried yet I’m still alive
I’m losing my balance on the tight rope
Tell me please, tell me please, tell me please, tell me please…
If I ever feel better
Remind me to spend some good time with you
You can give me your number
When it’s all over I’ll let you know
If I ever feel better
Remind me to spend some good time with you
You can give me your number
When it’s all over I’ll let you know
If I ever feel better
Remind me to spend some good time with you
You can give me your number
When it’s all over I’ll let you know
Everything you own in a box to the left.

Sorry for the long hiatus. Boxing 28yrs worth of stuff takes awhile, and un-boxing them again takes even longer.
For those who have contacted me on email on blog engagements and ads, give me a bit of time. This move is becoming quite chaotic, even finding a place to sit down with a laptop is a bit of a challenge with boxes everywhere and dropping wireless signals.
Beautiful Song, click under the cut for the Spanish and English lyrics.

Good food with a good friend.

Great for dates, dinner with friends, lazy weekends, live music and sports tv.
